I’m trying to use Edit-> Edit Track & Via Properties to increase the width of a collection of traces on my circuit board. I turn on the ‘Filter Tracks by Width’ and enter the existing width in the bar to the right of the button.
I filter just the Top Layer
I leave the radio button 'Set to specified values:) active and then go to the Track width pull down bar, which currently reads --leave unchanged–. It won’t let me enter the desired track width value.
Its the same for vias as well (except I wasn’t trying to change via size). Neither box will allow me to enter a new value, and is steadfast on --leave unchanged—.
What am I doing wrong?..
This is because you need to set a/some specified values first. Same with vias & layers.
To set values:
File > Board Setup > Design Rules > Pre-defined Sizes and go for it
Use the “+” sign at the bottom of each column to add each entry.
Thank you Janek. That instruction worked fine. Problem solved.
I first went to the Online Help to determine how to bulk edit tracks and found it a bit lacking. In regard to setting a new track width the help file states:
" Properties for filtered objects can be set to new values in the bottom part of the dialog. Properties can be set to arbitrary values by selecting set to specified values or set to the default value from the net class (or custom rule) by selecting set to net class / custom rule values.
Drop-down lists can be set to -- leave unchanged --
to preserve existing values, or set to a pre-defined track or via size to change the filtered objects’ size. You can also change the filtered objects’ layer."
Your one-sentence answer was much better, as I couldn’t get it to work the way the help document describes.
Thanks again for your help Janek.
