Bug or Feature: Annoying snapping behavior in 9.0.5

Hi,
when moving an object it now creates this crosshair on the location of the mouse pointer and when I drag the mouse, the object snaps very long to one of these axes.
Also it neither can’t be overridden by holding Shift nor Ctrl.

And when moving the Circle to a point, the center of the circle is not snapped to the point, where the mouse pointer is at.

What’s going on here?

KiCad 9.0.5 has quite a lot of snapping issues. Go ahead and test 9.0.6RC2 to see if it behaves the way you expect it to. If it does, then it will be fixed for the new release

I have had the same question, did you notice the extra symbols by the mouse arrow ? I guess they will be explained in the Manual but I’m pretty sure they weren’t on earlier versions of 9.x.y . . . so that is going to make things awkward for the V9 manual.

On a positive note, 9.0.6 rc2 seems much better for snapping to objects using the ruler :+1:

Hi, thanks for the details. You mean the small arrow cross? I guess I didn’t pay attention in the prior versions much.

But it seemed, just restarting KiCad solved this weird behavior on my side. So far I didn’t have any major problems with snapping.

I can’t try out the rc-versions because in our company we only use the installations supplied by the debian backport releases.

9.0.5 has some snapping issues, but the shape snapping part (with cursor indication) has been in both the application and the manual since 9.0.0

As of today, 9.0.6 is no longer a RC.
