I just hat a strange bug with a project that I ported from version 8 to 9:
Whenever I changed the name of a net in the schematic, the trace of that net lost its net assignment.
It only happened to some nets and unfortunately I was not able to reproduce it in a new project.
But I found a way to fix it, so I’m just posting this for people that maybe have the same problem:
The fix is to delete the fill zone that the trace is in.
As I said, I’m not sure what exactly caused it or how to reproduce it and I haven’t found any post about this problem, but I hope this helps if someone randomly encounters it.
Just for clarity for other forum users, what is the trace doing in a fill zone please ? also if you can’t reproduce it and it’s cause is unknown how do you know you have a fix ? This all seems a bit wham bam thankyou mam I’m not sure what to say but I think if your happy we will wait for another report. Thanks. Unless a DEV wants to know more !
Well it happened consistently with the same net, meaning all traces of that net would lose their net assignment whenever I would try to change the name of the net.
However it did work again as soon as I deleted the ground fill zone of the whole PCB.
Here’s a GIF of it happening.
I would also upload the project files, but I’m not allowed as a new user.
I tested it now in the latest two test builts 9.0.0.335 and 9.0.0.324 and it seems like you already fixed it! The bug does not reproduce on the same files that had the problem in the release built.
Just a quick reply to say thank you! I’ve been tearing what’s left of my hair out over this. It also affects copy and paste, where pasted tracks wouldn’t pick up the new net names.
