Auto-Place Footprints

Hi,

I’ve only just discovered this. I wanted to try positioning the entire board, HOever certain connectors need to be in predefined places. So I thought locking them would be the sensible thing to do. However, it has no effect and they are simply moved as if not locked. I could go through and make sure the components in fixed locations are not part of the selected group but that is an operation that gets tedious and is prone to error when done multiple times during the evolution of a design.

Am I missing something?

Make sure “Locked Items” are not selected in the Selection Filter (bottom right in the PCB Editor window).

even if it were selected, there should be a warning

So you say locked items are moved by autoplace regardless?
If so: that might might be (is?) a bug.

I thought it was about manual moving.

Yup, that works but I’d count it more as a workaround.
