Hi,
Maybe this is a minor bug, maybe it is on purpose. When i add text to the back silkscreen directly, it is not mirrored. So reading it on the back will not make sense. When i add it to the front first and then flip it to the back it does mirror it(as it does with everything). Shouldn’t text be auto mirrored when placed on the back because otherwise it is useless?
Haha that actually made me laugh, its 5.1.0. And you are right, there is a mirrored checkbox that i missed. When i select the backlayer it is autochecked, but when i select text and then switch to the back layer it is not autochecked. Its workable though!
I think that “flipping” and “changing the layer” work differently on purpose. Flipping is, well, flipping, while changing the layer considers only the Layer property of the item.
Should changing the layer of a text item on a copper, silk, mask, paste or adhesive layer (which are all physical layers for the board and therefore flippable) automatically change the mirroring, too (i.e. flip)? Dunno. There would be pros and cons. But IMO it’s simpler, easier and logical to keep it as it is.
