Attempted cleanup of a derailed thread

Edit by: Paulvdh

I wanted to delete the posts below, upon request of all participants, but it turns out my superpowers are not as great as I thought. I can not delete posts created by others, but I can split it of, and I’ll attempt to make this thread unlisted. Just experimenting a bit with my superpowers.

@teletypeguy, stay on theme and save the rest for other channels. Just my advice.

What sort of advice is that?
A MISO pin is not a simple output and it should not be defined as such. SPI is a shared bus and slaves should tri-state their outputs.

But I don’t want to get involved into a pissing contest, so show (at least a part) of the actual schematic and the part numbers of the IC’s that this is about.

Your power pins are defined as outputs ???
Where did you get such schematic symbols?

Jeez, don’t jump down my throat here, I’m the good guy, OK? That remark referred to an inappropriate comment from teletypeguy, which he/she has now deleted.
Leaving me looking like an idiot. Thanks for nothing, teletypeguy.

Not all spi slaves tristate the miso out, and there are simple shift-reg devices that can be used on an spi bus.

It’s a matter of having the pin defined properly in the symbol editor. So yeah, what part is being used and from where did the symbol originate?

Sorry, that went way off track – my fault.

Well, I’ve learned my lesson: everything I post from now on will include relevant quotes from the original post. Then I won’t land in the “switch-and-bait” trap again (read: post-and-delete/edit).

That is why I wrote:

Actions like that break the conversation, and make it impossible to follow a thread, and it’s therefore generally not recommended.
It’s easy to draw the wrong conclusions from false assumptions, if you don’t recognize them as such.

@teletypeguy @ML9104
I have superpowers and can delete the whole derailment in this thread. Are you both ok with me doing so?

Yes Paul – thx-----------------

Yes, please. Let’s have a clean technical thread.
I stand by my first reply, the rest can go in the garbage can.
And Thanks for stepping in.
