Asymmetrical body in footprint wizard

Kicad 5.1.5

I have a multidigit LED DIP display where the pins are not centered within the footprint. In other words the X distance between the leftmost pin to the edge is not the same as the distance between the rightmost pin and the other edge.

At the moment only one X offset from the pads can be specified for both sides. So I’ve used the greater of the two offsets, but it means the footprint takes up more space that the part really does. Here’s the slightly oversized footprint I’m using at the moment.

Any idea how to handle this short of modifying the footprint wizard to accept two offsets? Not a showstopper, I have enough space on the board.

You should be able to edit the footprint after the wizard has created it, and shrink the courtyard space on one end to the proper amount.

Sure, but my question was partly rhetorical: should the wizard be improved to cater for asymmetrical offsets in future?

You can certainly enter a feature request for that if you like, but it might be worth searching the forum history to see how often this has come up… if it’s rare, then having a simple workaround is probably going to be sufficient.
