Annotation creates more multiunits parts then added

Dear all,

i’m new to the forum and to kicad. I hope that I’m able to explain my problem in a good way.
I’ve added three multipart units 74AC132 to my schematics. Associating the footprints in cvpcb to my symbols i discovered that my part list did contain about six packages instead of three. That was weird.

One IC consists out of four units. I have three sheets each with one IC. Two sheets with four units and one sheet only with one unit. I’ve fiddled a bit with the annotation process because i had too many part (IC?) numbers for three ICs in my schematics and i managed to get the following “distribution” for my IC annotation.

sheet 01: IC6A, IC5B, IC5C, IC5D
sheet 02: IC11A, IC6B, IC6C, IC6D
sheet 03: IC5A

What would like to have is;

sheet 01: IC5A, IC5B, IC5C, IC5D
sheet 02: IC6A, IC6B, IC6C, IC6D
sheet 03: IC11A

The annotation thingy seems to forget which unit belongs to which IC. That’s strange and I’m wondering, if i did something serious wrong, when i created my symbol.

Thanks in advance,

kaffeesurrogat

How did you place the multi unit parts?

If you pick unit A and then place another one, you have to use up the ‘primed’ left parts in the history category.
Yes, I know this is missing a ‘place all units of this part’ option there somewhere - I hope the devs are aware of this and once eeschema framework is overhauled this will be a feature that is there.

Option. There are times when you use half of a dual twice for layout reasons

Thanks … :wink: so far that was helpfull
