Add New Job menu

Add New Job menu items does not correspond to editors tools and File/xx commands.
Examples,

  1. There is “Generate Legacy Bill of Materials” tool in Schematic, but it does not exist in the
    menu.
  2. In Job menu exists “SCH Export PDF”, but I cannot find such tool not in the File/Export,
    not in the Tool.
  3. No possibility to include External Plugin.
  4. etc…

I think, that the Job property can be really useful, if it includes any tool and command,
existing in the editors.

  1. the legacy bom is in ‘fade out’ stage, developers have moved their forces on the development of the ‘Generate bom’ and soon™ the legacy will be gone, so you’re better get acquainted to the new method…

It’s called legacy for a reason. It is being removed eventually.
It was never a bom but an exported netlist that was hacked into something that looked like a bom.

File > Plot

No possibility to include External Plugin

The python integration is being removed from kicad. External scripts(in any language) can be invoked via the “Special: command execute” job.

All jobs already existed in kicad. There is no unique functionality to jobs.
