9.0.3 Update - Screwed up two Windows PC's

Hi,

The recent update to 9.0.3 has caused the same issue on 2 separate PC’s.

Steps to re create

9.0.2 installed

Upgrade to 9.0.3

Result - permanent spinning wheel on desktop on right click - Desktop frozen

Did a system restore, Uninstall 9.0.2, clean install 9.0.3 and it seemed to fix it

Windows 11 24h2

Where did you get the install files from?
Did you attempt a second download? Maybe the download went awry.

Also, please add the second dot in KiCad’s version number, Now you’ve posted non existing KiCad versions and this is a bit ambiguous.

I upgraded on a Win11 machine as well and did not have any of these problems

Just today I updated my Win 10 lab laptop and had no install issues. A few days ago I updated this Win 11 laptop and had no install issues.

But I think I did get a “404 not found” when I tried to download the install file from Clarkson University in USA.

One thing…I have never installed any of the 3D models. That seems to be more GB than anything else. So I wonder whether that could be related…

I always install 3D models and it works just fine

Thanks. Well I guess that might not be it!

I would run a checkdisk as this has the symptoms of a failing drive/bad sectors
