After a long holdup, I’m finally getting back to learning Kicad. Of course, my first board has parts I don’t find in libraries, so I had to learn to make new parts. I think I successfully got an xMega32E5 in a 32 pin QFP, some fets in SOT23 and DPACK packages, I even put an NRF24L01 module using a “Pin_Header_Straight_2x04.”
However, I have a 7803 regulator in a SOT89 package. The 7005 regulator has pins VI, GND and VO, but of course, the SOT89 has pins 1, 2 and 3. I think I should just create my own 7803 part with pins 1, 2 and 3 so it fits the footprint, but is there something else I should do?
Hmm. Maybe what I really should do is use these lm2840 adjustable buck regulators instead.
