[5.99] Cannot find control to print to alternate device

PCB Editor (printing board outline and hole locations)

I know I’ve printed to a PDF and / OR dxf in the past. However in the version I’m using I have not been able to find such an option. It seems to want to print to the Windows default “printer”.

So I’m either hallucinating or something has changed.

Do I have a printing option block in my mind?

Printing is your OS printer options, we can’t insert custom printing there.

I found new information.

I changed my OS default printer to PDF.

When I went back to PCB Editor and printed, a box popped up asking me for the printer I wanted to use.
I then change my default back to the original laser. Now the printer option box pops up where it hadn’t before.

As marekr already mentioned, there are two different ways generate .pdf files from KiCad.

Pcbnew / File / Print Which uses a “print to File” option which is part of your OS:

On my Linux Box I also have Postscript and .SVG here.

And there is: Pcbnew / File / Plot / Plot Format: PDF

You write you used the “print” path to generate .DXF files, but for me the .DXF option is only available in the “Plot” dialog.

Thank you.

It appeared my issue was the first window of your post was not being offered when I attempted to print. This changed once I changed the OS default printer to something else then back.
