I’ve read a few forum posts and it seems that the “edge cuts” outline is supposed to be the outline of the pcb in the 3D Viewer but with two overlayed edge cuts and two overlaid margins I still get the error:
“Cannot determine the board outline” and it redraws the whole screen.
The graphics on Edge.Cuts must be a closed outline with no self-intersecting entities. Things like:
Are not allowed on Edge.Cuts, and prevent the 3D viewer from determining the PCB outline properly.
Thanks, I deleted the 3 edge cut outlines and the two margins I had and then carefully recreated them without gaps. It seems the 3D viewer works with margins.
I read from other posts there are some margins indeed.
But why bother?
I do PCB outlines (and all mounting holes) in whole millimeters, and set the grid accordingly. Graphic entities also snap to the endpoints of other graphic entities (A circle shows up when a magnetic snap point is used)
