3D Viewer crashes KiCad - Linux Mint 18.2

Greetings,
I’m running the latest nightly in Linux Mint 18.2.
Everything seems to be running fine except for the 3D Viewer. When launching it, Kicad simply crashes.
Running from terminal shows some random code and then an “Aborted” message. The lines seem to be different each time. Some examples:

Hi @bogdan2011 this is primarily a user forum and you will get better support for this type of issue at the developers forums:

I am also using Linux Mint 18.2
I’ve just updated and rebuild latest KiCad version and 3D Viewer is working good.

What is your hardware specifications? GPU…etc?
Could it be a GPU driver issue?

Most important question: Does it happen with all boards/footprints (even an empty one) or just with some specific project/footprint

Hi @Rene_Poschl

I’m having the same issue (3d viewer crashes and makes kicad stops working) but it happens with some projects. It was running ok, but stopped working after I tried to load a 3d model I made. I thought it could be some issue with openSCAD or freeCAD, so I created a new project and load only one component, then run 3d viewer and it went ok…

As you asked if the crash happenned with some specific project I thought you may know something about it and hopefully how to solve it.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I’m running linux mint 20.04.

Hello and welcome @lfigueroa

You would be better off starting a new topic and giving your full Kicad information. Lots have changed in four years since this topic was last commented on.

You will find your full Kicad information in Help / About Kicad /. Top RH corner, just click “copy version info” then paste into your topic.
