3D Viewer Colours

Running KiCad 9.0.1 on two machines, Ubuntu 24.04 and Mint v22.1. Both machines are affected.

A few days ago, for no obvious reason, the colours in the KiCad 3D viewer changed. The background changed to a solid black and some of the other colours are no longer what they were.

Further, the colours sub-menu for the 3D viewer preferences is no longer available. I can’t say whether they were ever there in V9 because I have had no need to change them since V7.

I have experienced the same. There seems to be a bug in the 3D Viewer color settings especially when switching from the legacy colors option under the presets. The immediate fix is to open the color selector of any layers in the 3D Viewer and click on the Reset to Default button.

Thank you, that did get things back to where they were. I tied doing that previously but the selector didn’t pop up. This time I kept clicking until it did. After doing that for the first item it worked normally for the remainder of the layers.
