We use a database for our symbol library. It actually works perfectly. A unique number in the ERP system refers to a symbol and the associated footprint with a unique database entry.
Unfortunately, however, the footprint is linked directly to the 3D model.
Is it also possible to load this link from the database?
This would simplify changes to the relationship between a unique symbol and footprint to a 3D model and allow for a central location—the database. It would also be possible to assign different 3D models to a footprint . For example, 3D models with multiple heights could be assigned to a 0204 capacitor 2D footprint.
