Hello @Pcbuser
It is best to ask in Solidworks how to import a Kicad board.
Ask in Kicad about importing from solidworks.
As an interim step, you can use FreeCAD (with StepUp workbench) to import the Kicad PCB and Traces/Pads.
Then, Export it as a ‘STEP with Colors’ file.
Then, import/open the STEP file in SolidWorks.
I did that several times when SolidWorks was my CAD tool for clients.
I no longer use SolidWorks and did not bother to install on new system. FreeCAD does everything I need…
Sure, it’s one more step/tool but, if you know SolidWorks, you can use the FreeCAD ‘Part Deisgn’ workbench as it’s the closest thing to SolidWorks (ProE, Inventor…). And, since you won’t be Modeling in FreeCAD, you won’t need to Fuss Around (unless you’re curious)…
Screenshot below shows Example (two-click’s to Load PCB in FC, One-click to Export STEP)
Thank you
It seems to Work
thanks that works.
However, the stepup due does not import traces and pads…how can I import them? Settings?
Get familar with StepUp - there’s an Icon in it’s toolbar for it
great thanks for the info
