My recent geeking with making a Nixie Tube encouraged further testing of Model colors - A brief Summary for those interested…
• Toolchain:
- FreeCAD v19 (the best version thus far!) with StepUp plugin
- Kicad 5.1.7
- Mac OSX 10.12.6
• Items Tested:
- 3D-model in ‘PartDesign’,set Transparency (alpha)
- 3D-model, compounded in ‘Part’ then, Exported from StepUp
- Default Materials changed in StepUp during Export process
• Results:
- Transparency settings in FreeCAD are overridden by StepUp Materials.
- Only the WRL files retain transparency of StepUp Materials
- The ‘Glass’ materials produce higher transparency
- The ‘LED’ materials produce lower transparency than Glass
