I’m running KiCAD V 5.10 on opensuse Tumbleweed. So far so good. I have problems with the 3D export. The 3D graphic is shown correctly on the monitor. Everything works fine except the §D3D export. Regardless if I try to export the 3D graphic as png or jpg, I always get an empty window. I was trying to use the export in a board description. Is there any easy to solve mistake that I could have made?
Hi, this happens when I use the nouveau driver for my nvidia card. Export works with the propriatary nvidia driver.
Maybe you are seeing the same effect ?
Thank you for the tip. I will find out which driver I have. Maybe that’s the solution. But what has the nvidia driver to do with the export? The display works fine.
It looks like KiCad grabs the picture right out of the graphic memory via the driver, I once had such a SW for DOS. But I am really no expert for this !!
I posted this problem some time ago but as this is obviously not a real KiCad problem I doubt it will vanish with V6
Hi Chris, you seem to be right. I just checked the driver and it’s the nouveau driver. Will check if I have a chance to change that.
Thank you for the helpful tip.
