It is useful.
Thanks for your sharing.
Puhhh, thats a lot of possibilities ! Thank you people ! I will look into your recommendations as soon as I am sure my circuit and layout are operational…
Meanwhile I tried aisler twice, for commercial and hobby use.
My opinion: OK for hobby, not suited for my commercial use.
Try out for commercial use, to form your own opinion. It’s at least inexpensive.
I keep on hearing mixed opinions about Aisler. Both here and on the EEVblog forum. Quite sad, as they are a big sponsor of the KiCad project and I really do want to like them.
Via the Linux Foundation DigiKey is the biggest sponsor in the last year (with a single USD15000 donation) Aisler is a solid second place with monthly donations of between USD 700 and USD 1100 (they have coupled it with PCB orders). Oshpark is a noteworthy third place with USD500 each month via the Linux Foundation.
(There are other donations to KiCad too. for example the KiCad website notes a substantial grant from NLnet from EUR50.000. but it’s getting off topic)
But concerning Aisler. I am thinking about ordering from them to get an idea of their quality. They do state that they do not make the PCB’s themselves, but have contracts with several PCB manufacturers, and that can be another reason for varying quality.
They also state that they by default enlarge solder stencil apertures (by I think 20%) and that sounds weird to me. I would expect to just get what I ordered. But apparently a lot of people like it when PCB manufacturers modify their PCB’s. Those manufacturers do have a lot of experience.
You view maternity leave, sick leave and not polluting as luxuries?
@Frederik
1st: read my post up to the last sentence.
2nd: all the goodies you lined up are luxoury to a whole lot of people all over the world. If you take them for granted, change your POV for a minute.
3rd: I bowed out off that off topic weeks ago.
@paulvdh
I do not evaluate aislers quality.
It‘s their business policy that does not meet my needs. That bit does not matter for hobby use.
I like aislers idea to make me donate a bit to kicad every time I order PCB. It‘s simple, it‘s on the invoice.
I consider to suggest eurocircuits to do the same. At least for uploaded kicad projects.
