V8.0.5 Footprint Chooser

New to the forum here, but have been using KiCAD 5 for a few years but recently upgraded to 8.0.5.

I started a new schematic of about 30 schematic symbols, some imported from my 5.0 projects.

Initially I could click on a schematic symbol, then assign a footprint to that symbol using Chooser. However, that stopped working - when I click in the Footprint box to bring up Chooser and select a footprint, NO footprint libraries show up.

I can select footprints using the Footprint Assignment Tool, and can view them in the Footprint Editor but not in Footprint Chooser (in Symbol editor)

Feels like there is a “Filters” box checked/unchecked but I can’t find it.

Here is the window I get:

  1. Make sure there is no text at all in the search filter.
  2. Drag down this divider so you can see the footprints in the Items list.

3 Also, put in the extra dot in KiCad’s version number. KiCad version numbers have 3 numbers divided by two dots.
4. Upgrade to KiCad V8.0.6. KiCad V8.0.7 is also expected in one or two weeks. Increments in the third number are bug fix updates, and this happens approximately once a month for KiCad, and each month aproximately 50 to 70 bugs get fixed.

Well, DUH! Knew it had to be something simple I was overlooking. #2 was the fix.

Copy on the X.Y.Z format. I will have to make a point of keeping the program updated.

Thanks much!
Joe
