Thanks, retiredfeline, that’s an answer I can relate to. I see the issue, and it makes sense.
I have no solution for this one, I’ll think about it.
But there has to be a better way for personal libraries.
And the “Install” page on kicad.org has to be more honest. Perhaps an “Upgrade” page would be a good idea?
Hi Piotr,
apologies for bad phrasing. My libraries disappeared from the library list only. They are still there.
Going into a discussion about single. vs. multiuser systems is not the right place.
I probably also was not clear enough. I was saying about library lists only. Before first run of schematic and PCB after changing version (V4 → V5, V5 → V6, and so on) I had to copy files containing library lists (fp-lib-table i sym-lib-table) into some \TMP directory so to be able to show KiCad them when asked for. I don’t remember exactly but at first run I probably have 3 choices and one means I want to select library list file to be used by new version.
I don’t understand this sentence. Did I said something that you understand I am speaking about multiuser system?
Linux is a true multi-user system, and this creates problems when the installer/updater has to update the user files (libraries). User file rights will block the access.
Windows is not.
So where do I post/send it?
Don’t tell me git, that provokes an allergic response with me.
You can discuss it on Feature Request Chat first for scrutiny, but if it gets any traction, it will have to be filed as an issue to get any action.
