Usability problems by dropping legacy toolset (v5.1.2)

I made a repo to collect KiCad color schemes: https://github.com/pointhi/kicad-color-schemes

Thanks Rene, but it was one of those moments of “Let’s do quickly do that too.”, that took longer that expected

Potentially transparency being computed against an invisible white “brightness” layer instead of the black background of the PCB editor might work… or perhaps not taking the background into consideration when computing transparency.

This has now been fixed (with hardcoded transparency value) and will be part of 5.1.3.

This, too, will be fixed in 5.1.3.

EDIT: I rewrote this message because it was repetitious.

5.1.3 mentioned above won’t be released; 5.1.4 will be available very soon. The features which were planned for 5.1.3 can be seen in the nightly builds of the stable series if someone is in a hurry, https://kicad-downloads.s3.cern.ch/index.html?prefix=windows/testing/5.1/.

Here’s how the transparent grey clearance works. How does it look like to you?

Please tell how the fixes work for you when you have a chance to try 5.1.4.
