Situation of KiCad on Apple M1/ARM?

Another great benefit it will be for example to run KiCAD on tablets (e.g. iPad Pro) and draw the schematics/ build PCBs using the pen… Anyway, at some point rosetta will be discontinued by Apple.

Occasional KiCad user here, I’m a newbie to electronics design. I use KiCad 6.0.6 downloaded from the official website on an older i7 iMac 5K and a rather new M1 MBP 16" (using Rosetta emulation, I suppose). No problems on both machines, runs with no lagging at all, also when manipulating a 3D model. Even raytracing is fast enough for me.

Only thing I have to mention (which is actually the reason I found this thread) is that KiCad often crashes on quitting the application: “KiCad quit unexpectedly.” This seems to happen last, after all files have been stored, closed etc., so not an actual problem. Can provide crash data if someone is interested.

Any repeatable crashes are taken very seriously by the developers.
Does it do this on both machines?
