Hi, Just installed the latest version of KiCad. While creating a schematic (following the tutorial) when I click on the icon “Add component” on the right side menu bar, nothing happens.
Only when using the shortcut, by pressing the “a” key I get the “Choose Symbol” popup window opened.
I tried to remove the original installation and re-install, but things have not changed.
Have no idea how to deal with this problem.

After clicking the “Place symbol” button you then have to left click somewhere on your schematic. The manual could be updated to provide a little more information in this regard.

All buttons in the right toolbar including the add symbol button switch eeschema to the requested mode instead of triggering an action as @1.21Gigawatts already indicated. The click to the schematic is then what triggers the action.
