PcbNew: what's the name?

Linux too.
I probably installed KiCad-nightly half a year ago, but do get updates. Today it looks like:

( had to search for it. Normally I don’t use that menu much, except for directly typing in the first three letters or so of the name of a program I want to start)

These things are all handled by packagers. On some Linux distributions the names have been updated already.

Maybe send a memo to the packagers for updating the names?
Is there such a thing for a dedicated communication channel related to packaging?

OK but what about the hysterical KiCad? :slight_smile:

Well, I imagine the names PcbNew and EESchema will go the way of CvPcb…

(Though I did notice that in the Assign Footprints window, the first item in the Help menu is CvPcb Manual and links to the CvPcb manual. So there is still some work to retire the CvPcb name…)

I’m shocked people use the start menu…but that’s just my power user-fu speaking.

While I’m on Linux I start kicad or its parts from command line, but there’s no binary called “Pcb Editor” :slight_smile:
