PCB Editor CTRL+TAB shortcut…

Okay, I understood. I can’t reproduce this issue with KiCad 8.0.6 on Win11. I can test it in a few hours on my Mac

… Added to this also: when I reopened the project after this KiCad Freeze in the video my 2 Presets (JH1+JH2) were gone. Where did they travel?

… Today when using CTRL+TAB KiCad freezes about every time I use it (have to do a Force Quit) while some days it works well 20 times in a row. Hm.

Can’t replicate either of these issues on a MacBook M1 running Sequoia 15.1 and KiCad 8.0.6. Does this still persist after a restart?

Yes, after restart also. Then as mentioned it might work well for 20 times or more! Have you tried it really tough, over and over gain, restarting Kicad, doing it again and again and again? Then it may get back again – freeze. Very strange. I use an Intel machine, if that might matter.

Tried on two projects and multiple iterations through the Layer Display with Ctrl + Tab. Prob 30+ iterations each time with no issue.

Ok then it’s probably an issue only here, or try again tomorrow, this might be interesting. But of course boring. Here a feeling of not safe to use this function.

Tested it a few times again now. Out of 5 tests it took 1 or 2 CTRL+TAB to freeze 4 of them and one time it didn’t freeze at all (after more than 40 CTRL+TAB it still worked).

And now also tested on another computer with Mac OS 12.6.3

And by now also reported as an “issue”.

But probably it’s not an issue with the application as no one else has this problem. It must be an issue with my project so I better look at that instead.

Btw, is there a way to delete the default “Layer Display Options” presets?

After testing some other projects and the CTRL+TAB-issue mentioned here did not occur so the problem is not with the App itself it’s a project-issue. I tried to reply on the email received from the Bug Report place on GitLab and got this reply: Unfortunately, your email message to GitLab could not be processed. We couldn’t figure out what user corresponds to the email. Please create your comment through the web interface.

… Funny thing though is when skipping using the shortcut keys CTRL+TAB and instead clicking the Presets in the list it is no problem even in this “problem” project.

best would be to log into gitlab and attach your project file there

Ok, how to do that, I tried to reply on email from GitLab but this is the reply 2 times now: "Unfortunately, your email message to GitLab could not be processed.

We couldn’t figure out what user corresponds to the email. Please create your comment through the web interface."

you need a GitLab Account and then you log in

I have an account and I have logged in there a few times…

Is it possible to have an account there without giving an email address?

I see now I happened to reply to Gitlab with a different email address than the one used for registering at GitLab. I will try again.

Edit: Though bad enough I can’t find the original email.
