NEWBIE question about KiCad library format

Hi everyone,

I am new to KiCad and is learning how to add my own library from EAGLE over to KiCad. I would like to organize the footprints for parts that have the same symbol like the image shown below. However, I’ve looked around and researched for tutorials but couldn’t find any. If anyone has any tips or pointers about this then I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

I could repeat the basic stuff, but there are also several articles about library managment in the FAQ part of this forum such as:

For me the problem is that I don’t understand what you really needs.
Two years ago I have written how my KiCad libraries are organised but I suppose it is not what you are looking for.

Your screenshot doesn’t show a symbol. I can only guess it some sort of 8 pin symbol.

It’s not necessary to assign a footprint to a symbol, that’s just a convenience for parts that always come in the same package and saves you associating the footprint when editing the schematic before moving on to layout.

You’ll just have to find something suitable in the KiCad footprint library for each of your imported symbols by looking at datasheets, etc.
