We must have been posting concurrently. I have double checked and I am sure my "last screenshot’ was from the Schematic editor. I will attach another screenshot to demonstrate. (I may be wrong still of course?).

So indeed, a few beginners tutorials seems what you need most

I have just downloaded a couple and will view before this days is over.

As I look at that image, I see that you’re still in the Symbol Editor.
You need to open the Schematic editor and place symbols there!

Thanks Andy, I am onto that now. This thread is moving fast, which is good!
It appears there may be a bit of overlapping posts.

I have received some excellent assistance from you respondents; thanks to all who posted!
I have satisfied the questions in my opening post and I am well on the way towards learning the finer details of KiCad now.
I’ll mark the thread as solved, in the Linux Forums tradition.
