Cheers

KiCad’s font is Ubuntu Mono (on all platforms, this is not Ubuntu specific)

Can’t be Ubuntu Mono (it’s not monospaced)…

It may be possible to convert it, but it is going to take some scripting: Where Can I Download the KiCad Font

…It is Ubuntu’s Monospaced font

Though now I’m confused for me in pcbnew, the characters are identical to Ubuntu Mono and our source tree references Ubuntu Mono in the generator for gal.
But we somehow call it some other font “New Stroke”?

I think Jeff meant that Newstroke font is not monospaced (which is obvious, just compare ‘M’ and ‘I’) that’s why it can’t be ubuntu mono.
IIRC newstroke font was designed specifically to replace Kicad’s original hershey font

Hi
Have Ubuntu Mate 20.04 and typing the Alphabet in Ubuntu Mono a number of characters have curve on stroke and typing the same in Eeschema the same characters are single line. In image typing multiline text shows the bottom row to be wider than same in Inkscape using Ubuntu Mono. Did run across this in another graphic project where online images showed straight line M but could not find matching M font.

Ahh… Ubuntu Mono is the font we use for bitmap text. We use that for some screen-only renderings like the numbers on the ruler.
