KiCad newbie: Eagle import troubles (KiCad crashes)

Using KiCad “Version: (5.0.1-3-g963ef8bb5), release build”.
Using MacOS Mojave 10.14.2.
Using Eagle “Version 7.7.0 for Mac OS X (64 bit)”.

When I attempt to import my schematic I get the following:

HELP! And thanks in advance for the bandwidth.

5.0.1 had a known problem with the eagle import (warning text was all over on the download pages)

I would suggest updating to 5.0.2 but there is another problem for you. There is not yet a 5.0.2 build for MAC as there was a problem with the build system. You could try the testing branch found here: KiCad 5.0.2 for MAC might vanish for a bit
