Kicad for linux mint 18.3 no libraries

I have installed linux Mint 18.3 and I have installed the Kicad 4.0.7. I went to the configuration path setting and included the “https:/github.com/KiCad” with the KIGIHUB name and I get no libraries. In fact when I did install the software I didn’t get all of the folder under “usr/share/kicad” I installed the needed folder manually. I then used the wizard to download parts… from github. It appeared to download but I keep getting the error "the following libraries were not found: It listed everything like: power, device, switches, relays…

It is not suggested to use the github plugin. In fact the official libs for version 5 will no longer be supplied via on demand libs.

How can i install a specific version of the footprint library?
