I have a doubt how to import my footprint in kicad using ubuntu 16.04

The operating system has nothing to do with how this part of kicad works. The kicad version however could have an influence depending on what lib you want to add.
Do you want to import a footprint to some existing lib or do you want to add a lib to kicad?
For the later have a look at How can i install a specific version of the footprint library? for inspiration of how it can be done.
For the former open the footprint editor, set your target lib as active and use the import footprint button in the top toolbar to get the footprint into the editor and use the save footprint to active lib button to add store it to the lib.
