The libs have to be ‘linked’ individually anyway currently for the modern version. There is no search path per see anymore, like you currently see it for EEschema. Afai-aware KiCAD never employed the concept of - just point it at a folder and it will try to load all libs that it finds in that folder - as even for EEschema you have to link each lib into the program individually - even though you set up the search path beforehand.
