Trying to open the file provided by Paul crashed my GerbView too:

@ZASto My laptop is no slouch: i7@1.8GHz 16GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce MX250, but doesn’t compare to your, I may be running out of graphic memory or even normal RAM.

EDIT:
Reading ZASto’s post make me thing about the graphics memory of my video card, I change render mode to “legacy” (F9) and gave it another try, it worked.

p.s. @paulvdh Although the whole board loads correctly in “legacy” mode, your test file still crashes GerbView, maybe unvalid file?

Even if the file is malformed, it should be rejected rather than segfaulting
