Gerber rotation feature

Hi,

How to rotate a layer in the viewer ?
I would like to compare layers with solder screen having a different angle.

Thanks

Not an available feature, see previous discussion (which got a bit off the rails): Gerber rotation feature

Too bad, that would have been very useful.
Thanks I’ll continue to use ViewMate

Indeed, for me it would be a useful feature too.
In previous discussion some claim that its implementation would be easy while others say no way :man_shrugging:

If I understood it correctly, the implication (perhaps not very clearly stated) was that rotating the view on screen would be comparatively easy, but rotating the Gerber data would be hard.

if you notice that from the viewer you can send the file directly to the board editor and just imagine what will happen with such a send if the picture is rotated without changing the coordinates … it turns out that this is not a gerber viewer but pictures … you can also generate, for example, svg and twist this picture in any editor but it has no feedback from the board…

Ok, I think the question has been answered so I’ll merge this with the older thread and keep the combined thread closed. If you think rotation in the viewer is a desirable feature, then raise an issue on Gitlab or vote for the issue if it exists.

A miracle happened:

A little bit of background: this is in the latest 7.99 code (maybe in the latest or the next nightly build). It can be used from the layer list context menu.

I think JP Charras has been lurking here and deemed this worth implementing.
