I want the zone to connect with the pads without leaving a huge part cut off. It should work since the pins are netted to GND aswell as the vias to the GND layer. Why does this happen and how can I solve it?
I assume the zonefill’s minimum thickness is bigger than the pad width. The default setting is to connect to pads via a thermal relief connection. If you set the connection type to solid, I think it is going to connect, or with thermal relief you need to decrease the width.
If you don’t want to decrease the width, you can create a higher priority zone fill locally with different clearance, width and connection parameters.
The method I use is to just place pcb traces to connect the pads to the fill.
I hope I could help.
Thank you! You did help
Changing the fill zone settings to
- clearance 0
- pad connections “solid”
solved the problem.
I have also written a FAQ article about this: Why a zone doesn't connect to a pad even though they belong to the same net?
