Trying to modify the generic Q_NMOS_GSD symbol to a depletion mode transistor:

Yes a smaller grid is used to draw details like that. (Only pins must be drawn on a larger grid spacing to allow connecting them easily in eeschema) You can switch the grid in view -> grid settings.
