"Delete dangling tracks" creates air wires (solved)

Is “Delete dangling tracks” supposed to create air wires when everything was connected before?

In more detail: DRC showed no unconnected items. I ran Edit -> Cleanup tracks and vias -> Delete dangling tracks. An air wire appeared and now shows up as unconnected in DRC

After some searching, I determined that this happens at a via that appears a bit crooked:

45%20AM

So I’m unclear if this is a bad via and DRC should catch it, if Cleanup tracks and vias has a bug and is messing things up, or if my expectations are wrong.

I’m using kicad 5.0.1 on Mac.

  • This is a bad via (warning: personal opinion) although it is still electrically connected and that’s why DRC didn’t say anything
  • Cleanup tracks has a bug in that it shouldn’t delete the wire in this case. Can you report this bug and add an example project over at https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad

Thanks Seth. I’ve reported this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/1805479

I just reported the bug a couple hours ago, and you fixed it already. Wow!

And it’s not even close to the record time. Once a bug was already fixed when my report went in

I once wanted to report a bug and it was already fixed 2 months before that. (In the nightlies, while I use the stable version).
