To use the field you’d have to run your own libraries anyway, as otherwise any reload of the official repos will wipe anything you put into them.
Or you’d have to fill in each field everytime you create a new project and place components.

Set up your eeschema for atomic parts, use your own libs and be done with it already.
The tools are there, just learn to use them.
