Cutouts not working

I’m trying to cut out notches from the PCB. I tried drawing overlapping rectangles along the edge thinking kicad would remove the areas:

But the 3-d render is still a rectangle:

What am I doing wrong?

Draw the outline as a single graphic polygon, or make it from line segments with only endpoints of lines connecting to each other. There are no crossings nor crossing lines allowed.

You can have internal cutouts. Something like this:

In the screenshot I have one line segment selected in the PCB editor.

Okay, thanks. Makes sense. I’ll just use the polygon tool.

And don’t make inside corners sharp, but rounded or as “dog bones”.

A tip: Don’t make inside corners like this: [b3933] Use “dog bone” corners or draw rounded corners after making certain that the mating connector will accept those. Otherwise a lot of unnecessary communication with the manufacturer occurs.
