Select items and open the context menu. There’s Grouping menu. There seems to be a small bug in the footprint editor: the grouping isn’t necessarily immediately visible, but it’s still there. Save the footprint, close the editor, open again the same footprint. Now try to select one item of the group. They are all selected because they belong together. So, it’s easier to do this as the last step when the footprint pads are completely ready. You can also “Enter” the group to edit individual items of it.

Also grouping works without bugs for me, but I’m still on 6.0.
My fault was just trying to group the pads in the PCB-Editor instead of the footprint editor.
why?
oh. you want the copper to go all the way to the edge. Like a edge connector.
