We use AI tools here and there. They are fine for some aid in bringing up ideas and generating boiler plate. But the point is you must understand the code you are submitting and maintain the code quality and style standards in the rest of kicad. We won’t be happy with time wasted on MRs dealing with AI slop. Changes and LLM usage must be communicated properly, reading AI generated diatrabes are unpleasant and obvious.
OP here talks about missing functionalities as such. If we wanted to throw an AI at solving that, we could easily. We aren’t lacking vibe coding abilities. It’s just the changes we make to kicad are design directions that impact current and future work so nothing is done as lightly as vibe coding.
I do have my own personal opinion that if you have to ask about AI assistant usage, then perhaps you shouldn’t be using them because that’s an indication one would be using that too much as a replacement for actual engineering work.
