Meh, I’d rather have a lemonade, don’t want to take chances with accols. Random factoid: in S Korea they use ade as a noun, rather than a noun suffix, meaning a fruit flavoured drink. Sort of makes sense.

And here was me expecting a “like” from you for the reinstatement of your reward, and a “like” from Paul for correcting the issue.
Both the second post and the post from John (6th or 7th?) give some insight into why different footprints are needed for “a capacitor”. I like the picture better, because it instantly shows different physical sizes, you could vote for either one. But the post with those obsolete lightbulbs 
which was marked earlier, does not come very close to a generic answer.
Don’t dare even think about writing that on an Audiofool site! 
You’ll have to train the untrained masses. If I happen to write anything useful it’s accidental so count me out. 
Let’s go back to the original question.
a) Define the component type (wirewound resistor, ceramic capacitor, …)
b) Check what type of components fit into the available space of your pcb
and if you have the equipement to handle these components
c) Check what components are available to buy
d) Compare the prices of these components
e) Pickt the footprint for your choice
