As you can see from my photo, I ain’t no chicken. I started learning Electronics just after I left school and it may surprise you to learn that it wasn’t steam driven. Neither were transistors around. I was a whiz on valves but that was nearly half a century ago. I spent until I was in my mid twenties learning electronics (yes, even transistors) but then switched more or less entirely to software for the remainder of my career. I have programmed in binary, assembler (pdp15, pdp11, VAX), Algol, Fortran, Bliss, BCPL, Coral66, Pascal, Ada, Prolog and finally (more recently) C. After retirement I have returned to playing at electronics again and phew, things have changed a lot. What used to occupy 5 six foot racks of equipment can now be done with something that, if I drop it, I might never find it again on the carpet. Still must get on, there is a lot to learn and, for me, not so much time left to learn it.
