I’m using KiCad 4.0.2 on MacOSX , binary downloaded from kicad.org.

The “Mode Footprint” selected, but not special popup menu displayed:

Can you switch your Canvas (see menu ‘View’) to something else than Cairo?

Default mode works, but not OpenGL and Cario mode
