Usually, when I drag a track towards another, it stops when it reaches the minimum track clearance and, if possible, wraps around it.
Recently I’ve been getting some instances where I can move a track so it incorrectly overlaps, is highlighted in green, the error message Track violated DRC.appears, and it then snaps back to the original position.
I can’t work out what the difference between the two behaviours is. Help please?
maybe you have changed the router settings: Route–>Interactive router settings:3modes: shove, walkaround, highlight are possible
I have never been using ‘highlight’ mode, but according to how I understand it in that mode you should be able to place tracks that violates DRC so it should not snap back.
e.g. if the track already violates DRC when starting dragging, it doesn’t try to walk around and just highlights it in green:
(this also got changed in one of the releases, previously it would try to resolve the collision)
I think this was the issue. In the most recent instance, I found an erroneous segment of track unconnected to any net but hidden by another track. When I removed that segment, the problem ceased.
Thanks.
I just changed it so that it tries to walkaround/shove first before showing “Track violates DRC.”
