Announcement: KiCandy silkscreen icon picker

KiCandy is a KiCad 9 Python action plugin that inserts Material Symbols glyphs (for now) as free silkscreen text. Instead of typing a Unicode character manually, you get a searchable gallery of icons grouped by font style.

Still has a few bugs but a pretty usable proof-of-concept!

What do you think, is it worth the effort?

It looks nice and easy to use. There are not many symbols related to PCBs and electronics, though. It took a while until I figured out that I have to click Manage Icon Sets and download the icon sets. I’m on Linux and currently use the flatpak, so it doesn’t seem to pick up icons from the system (I’ve got google material icons fonts installed in the system). Some icons are shown only as their code, e.g. 0F1CBF below.
