Am new to kicad

What do it kneed to know before i get started woth kicad

Not to be funny, but, we have no idea where you are at knowledge wise. Do you have a design you want to implement? If you aren’t at that phase then there really isn’t a starting point for using the software yet.

Electronics (at least a little) so Ohm’s Law is the starting point, I think.

I am new as well, and i have restarted my project once already, and i might do it again, i have found many useful guides on this website, but my file hierarchy for building projects, has caused me a lot of confusion… like yes, i want my own symbol library, yes, i want a footprint library, yes, i need somewhere for pdfs, yes, i made a folder for all these sub directories called gaylord, and then i start reading about envs and do i make the gaylord directory and env? and put it under my .pro project file? If not, where is the best information (preferably video) reguarding this information? I might have to restart my project because of this

May be KiCad file structure I use will be helpful:

First, if you’re working with .pro files, you’re on a very old version of KiCAD. Current is 9.0.6.

Second, the KiCAD program itself is complex, but the user file system behind it is very simple.

Symbol and footprint libraries are flat structures. Your project file structure is up to you.

Personally I have one directory per project with subdirectories for data sheets and simulation models. That’s it.
